On the 15th of June 2017, the ECMOD Direct Commerce Awards took place in London at the prestigious Hurlingham Club. We, alongside a number of other great finalists such as Virgin Experience Days and Weird Fish, were invited to the award ceremony where the winners of each category would be announced.
Andy, our Managing Director, and Ted, our Assistant Sales Manager, were the ones that took the trip to the awards evening, representing the rest of the Home Leisure Direct team (who were quite jealous).
We were nominated for the Gifts, Gadgets, Hobbies & Home Entertainment category of the awards, and knew that we were already finalists, but we wouldn’t know who the winner would be until the big announcement. With champagne on arrival, followed by a great meal, this was a perfect time for some meeting and greeting before the award ceremony took place.
The award ceremony was begun by Matt Barbet, 5 News anchor and journalist, who introduced all of the companies present before moving on to the awards section of the ceremony, where the winners of all the categories were announced.
We were delighted that our name was called out as the winner of the Gifts, Gadgets, Hobbies & Home Entertainment category, and proudly took to the stage to receive our award.
Andy, the Managing Director, then sent a text message to all the staff members anxiously waiting at home and announced that we had won! We were all so pleased.
We’d like to thank everyone that has supported us over the years including our staff and suppliers, and of course our valued customers.
The judges had some fantastic things to say about Home Leisure Direct:

If you're going to develop a busness that operates in a true niche then this is a prime example of how to get it right. Impressive."
- "This business wowed me last year and has done so again. Super work from a really driven team that clearly knows what turns their customer on. I have friends who have bought a number of times from HLD and who swear by the products and the service."
