Pool table trolleys are designed for use with deep cabinet slate bed pool tables, where the trolley can be rolled in underneath the table. The most popular type is where a "bottle jack" is used. Just insert the handle into the jack and pump the unit up and down until the pivoting frame comes into contact with the table and lifts it sufficiently off the floor.
These trolleys are designed to be used on a hard surface, not on carpet. The table trolley needs to be able to be moved. When used on carpet it tends to just cause there to be a wave of carpet gathering in front of the trolley as you push the table into place.
