We are now officially the award winning Home Leisure Direct after triumphing at this years Venda Direct Commerce Retail Awards 2013 where we scooped one of their top awards, The Direct Commerce Readers’ Choice Award 2013, beating some huge household names in UK retail including John Lewis, Argos and Littlewoods.
Home Leisure Direct was voted by our peers as a business that innovates, inspires and consistently delivers exceptional service. It is one of the most sought after accolades of the ceremony.
The ECMOD Direct Commerce Awards attracts over one hundred of the UK’s Home Shopping Retailers, each vying for success in what has become one of the most prestigious awards events in the industry.
The entire team made the journey up to London where we met up with our friends Andy and Jim over at bluebox, the devilishly clever guys who help design and build our fantastic website. The black tie event was held at Chelsea Football Club, Stamford Bridge where we were treated to a three course dinner and plenty of wine, in which we of coursed indulged.
Ours was the penultimate award of the evening and one for which we had no idea we were in the running. When we were mid conversation at our table and heard “Home Leisure Direct!” we all looked at each other in a state of shock. Then the entire team proceeded to invade the stage with poor Sky News presenter Dermot Murnaghan who was hosting, looking slightly bewildered by it all. We collected our trophy and were then ushered into another room where we were interviewed on camera by the fab ECMOD Team including the lovely Miri Thomas.
The whole team were buzzing with excitement; we simply could not believe that we managed to bag such a huge award and were coming away from London with some silverware. We cracked open the champagne to toast our success and continued to celebrate in similar fashion until the early hours of the morning.
Both myself and Andy are overjoyed to have national recognition for what we have strived so hard to create since founding Home Leisure Direct in 2007. We are so thankful to bluebox and all the hard work they put into creating us an industry leading and award winning website. Without that, our success would not have been possible.
We are also thankful for the sensational team we get to work with every day; Roger Bunce, Dave Larkin, Dave Morgan, Charlotte Liney and Abi Ponton who together help us to give our customers the retail experience for which we have become renowned.
