The brand new Star Wars: The Force Awakens film will be released in cinemas this December to an avid fan base. Not a lot of information has been revealed about the storyline as the creators want to make sure that fans will get the old-school element of surprise - which makes it even more exciting!
We’ve already booked our tickets to see the highly anticipated film and we’re expecting wonders. With new developments in CGI and technology, who knows what this addition to the classic film series will have in store for us. We're hoping to see high-quality graphics and even more lightsaber action!
What we do know, is that Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill will be featured in the Star Wars: The Force Awakens, playing their iconic roles from the previous films, which has raised loyal fans’ excitement levels through the roof. In the trailer we do see the disformed Darth Vader mask, with a new character saying they will carry on what he started. There are a lot of fan theories about who this new character may be...
But there’s also the question of “Where’s Luke Skywalker?” as he has been rumoured to be in the film, but isn’t in the trailer or on their promotional film poster… Some believe he’s turned to the dark side, whereas others think he may be dead! Who knows, we’ll have to find out for ourselves when the new film is released in December.
The anticipation has really got to some fanatics who drove around in Star Wars fashioned cars, dressed as characters from the classic film whilst campaigning for Darth Vader to be in the regional elections in Ukraine. Chewbacca got arrested though, but it just goes to show that The Empire really is striking back!
In the light of the film, we were really excited to find out that we were getting some Star Wars Memorabilia in our new Memorabilia range. One of the pieces that we have in our showroom is a Star Wars Trilogy piece signed by Dave Prowse, who plays Darth Vader and it’s stunning, a real collector’s item and a great addition to any games room.

If you really fancy getting into the spirit, we even have a Star Wars Battle Pod in our new Selfridges concession in London, Oxford Street. The battle pod is a gamer’s paradise with high definition graphics, air blasts, seat vibration and surround sound for that fully immersive gameplay experience.
We also have a Data East Star Wars Pinball Machine landing in our showroom during the next few weeks. The pinball itself was made in 1992 but is in a really good condition for its age and features some great toys like a mini R2-D2 and Death Star on the playfield.
