Hot on the heels of last weekend’s snooker tournament from Gloucester we have the European 8 Ball Pool Open this weekend 14th to 16th September. The Gatwick Hilton is being used for the first time which should be interesting, and with 14 pool tables in action and a BBC camera crew in attendance the day will be anything but mundane.
Run by the IPA (International Professional Pool Players Association), the majority of the World’s top players will be trying their luck including former World Champions Phil Harrison, Carl Morris, Mick Hill, Adam Davis, and Jason Twist plus any number of other top quality contenders, while the amateurs are also very well represented with the likes of recent tour winner Simon Ward and young find Giuseppe D’Imperio, the British Open Champion.
It all starts on Friday afternoon at 2.00pm and despite (as you can imagine) a ludicrous number of potential frames it is supposed to be completed by late Sunday afternoon, though guessing a finish time is beyond anyone with frames taking seconds or hours, depending on how the balls break! One thing we can almost guarantee is the finest exponents of the sport in the World today, with so fireworks, clearances, a touch of the required luck, and a good time for all concerned - players, fans, family, and those watching the live streaming so why not tune in and watch if you cannot make it in person, oh and do remember to tell your friends!
Gareth Potts, who is sponsored by Home Leisure Direct will also be attending the event in Gatwick. The three times world champion and most celebrated player in the sport will hopefully be on top form. If you want to learn to play like the Golden Boy, check out our coaching videos on Home Leisure Direct TV
Our HLD reporter Sean Trivass will be attending all three days live and writing an overview for your pleasure after the events completion!
