While the cabinets are slimmer to provide comfortable legroom, they are loaded with cross braces, plywood, and other supportive structures to accommodate the heavy slate bed. This ensures a perfectly level and stable playing surface that won't budge during a high-stakes game.
This means the Pool Dining Table playability is the same, if not better than most pub pool tables.
Note: The only difference between Pub-style pool tables and Pool Dining Tables is that deeper tables have faster ball returns than the shallower Pool Dining Table cabinets. This minor trade-off ensures guest comfort, while bounce, roll, and potting remain consistent with professional play.

How heavy is a slate pool dining table (and will it move)?
The short answer is: Heavy.
Pool Dining Tables are significantly heavier than regular dining tables, making them incredibly stable and improving playability. For example, our most popular model, the Signature Chester 7ft, weighs 256kg.
This weight makes the table difficult to manoeuver once set up, but it isn’t impossible. All you need is 4x furniture sliders under each leg, and 3 - 4 people to help push.
It's important to note that tables with sectional slates cannot be moved once installed, as the precision levelling required takes between 4 and 6 hours to perfect on-site.
Are they stable enough, or do they move when bumped?
Yes. Pool Dining Tables are engineered specifically for high-traffic use in a family home. Because they are built with heavy-duty reinforcements to support the slate, these tables are extremely sturdy. The leg and base designs are engineered to withstand accidental bumps without shifting.
In contrast, MDF tables are generally much lighter and less sturdy, which can lead to movement during play.

Slate Bed vs. MDF: Is the extra cost worth it?
Absolutely. If you want a "true" pool experience, slate is essential for Pool Tables. While MDF is a lighter-weight alternative, only a slate bed provides the professional-grade performance and longevity required for tournament-level play.
A slate bed also offers the stability and longevity needed for a dining table, and there are more design options available for slate bed pool dining tables.
How do you ensure it stays perfectly level?
Our expert team will level all pool dining tables they install, to make sure the slate doesn't bow due to uneven weight distribution.
We highly recommend not moving the table at all once it’s been installed. However, if you do need to move it, you must level the table using the cloth surface, not the dining tops or cushions, to maintain a professional playing surface.
How to level your pool dining table:
- The Tools: Use a professional spirit level (ideally 2ft or 4ft long).
- The Process: Identify the highest point on your floor and adjust the other legs to match it.
- The Adjustment: Most tables feature adjustable screw-in feet. Turn clockwise to raise and counter-clockwise to lower.
Pro Tip: We recommend having a second person lift the table slightly while you adjust the feet to prevent strain.
How do you ensure it stays perfectly level?
When comparing heights, Pool Dining Tables are slightly shorter than traditional pub-style pool tables.
