It's something from a different world! Chris Christoforou has made it through to the final stages of Games Room of the Year 2021 with his Alien-inspired collection. Chris's love of the 1979 classic cult favourite has been brought alive in his own home alongside an incredible range of games, making his space a great finalist for this year's competition. Chris entered the Games Room of the Year for the fun opportunity to share online with others in the game-loving community, plus the incentive of free beers and the £1,000 prize definitely sweetened the deal.
When you first enter the Alien territory you will see a sleek black pool table, but not only used to shoot some pool, the table also converts to a full-size ping pong table, and a dining top which is ideal for playing the numerous Alien board games which Chris has collected. Incredibly, Chris has a one-of-a-kind movie poster on the wall of the Xenomorph Alien playing pool, showing the newfound discovery that aliens also have a playful side.
Your eyes will instantly be drawn to the colossal Alien Isolation Arcade machine in the window, with Chris's own personal artwork designs. This machine will make any arcade lover's jaw drop, but the Alien-theming just brings this whole room into another dimension. If the arcade machine isn't enough for you, then don't fear, Chris also has an incredible customised Alien pinball machine in mint condition, complete with the iconic facehugger aliens ready to snatch the pinball.
Now, any Alien fantasist's room would not be complete without a serious movie zone to rewatch the complete Alien collection over and over. Chris has created the perfect setup with super comfy black leather recliners facing the big screen for hours of Alien marathons. Lastly, we can't forget about the pristine display cabinet filled with Alien memorabilia, and all things out of this world.
We asked Chris what is his favourite part of the games room, and we completely agree with his answer: "Easily the Alien Movie Theme we have going on, as big fans of the franchise we knew this is what we wanted from the start to give our room a unique spin. We have posters, merchandise, a customised Alien Pinball machine with added toys and even our own artwork designed Alien Isolation Arcade machine to create the atmosphere we wanted."
A room this immense has taken a lot of work and attention to detail to create. Chris told us "The room has been slowly evolving from October 2016 with us finding new ways to incorporate the theme over time and saving the funds to do so. The process of designing our own arcade machine artwork was a particularly time-consuming labour of love." Well Chris, we have got to say the labour of love has really paid off, making this room truly inspiring.
We asked Chris if he had any more plans for his Alien games room: "We have little touches in mind like tying in the dartboard and pool table via some Weyland Yutani themed branding and an in-progress fireplace concealing minbar project. Finally, we are refurbishing an Aliens Extermination arcade machine and the next challenge will be seeing if we can work it into the room or if an extension to the games room is required!"
We wish Chris and his Alien shrine good luck in the final stages of the GamesRoom of the Year competition 2021.
